I made myself write a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sestina\">sestina<\/a>, probably because I hate myself. Enjoy!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nCalendar Application<\/p>\n<p>Reaching down, I check the screen,<br \/>\nseeing when I need to be gone,<br \/>\naway from this place, on time,<br \/>\nto my appointments happening then.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a complicated list and I<br \/>\nam unable, sometimes, to comprehend.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve no time allotted to comprehend<br \/>\nas it clearly blinks on the screen.<br \/>\nThe day moves quickly, ahead, and I<br \/>\nmanage to breathe before it&#8217;s gone.<br \/>\nThe air bounces around inside, then<br \/>\nescapes, too quickly, on it&#8217;s own time.<\/p>\n<p>You see, every action requires time<br \/>\nburning inside to make muscles comprehend<br \/>\nso they can push you forward and then<br \/>\nthe miasma of tasks on the screen<br \/>\ncan be completed, crossed off, gone.<br \/>\nClicking, typing, erasing the last, I<\/p>\n<p>feel momentary freedom, but, still, I<br \/>\nknow that even if I feel done this time,<br \/>\nmy daily grind will never truly be gone.<br \/>\nThe minute voice I don&#8217;t comprehend,<br \/>\nattempting to distract me from the screen<br \/>\nand all the work being added then,<\/p>\n<p>will whisper in silence, then<br \/>\ngrow louder into a rumbling shout and I<br \/>\nwill finally put my fist through the screen,<br \/>\nelectric jolts making me shiver as time<br \/>\nfor a moment, breaks, and I comprehend<br \/>\nthe meaning of my schedule being gone.<\/p>\n<p>My focus, ambition, lifeblood is gone.<br \/>\nWhile freedom brings smiles now and then,<br \/>\nan open life is hard to completely comprehend.<br \/>\nI sit here, unmoving, while I<br \/>\nlisten to tick marks, counting time<br \/>\nand staring at shattered, fragmented screen.<\/p>\n<p>The craving to comprehend is gone.<br \/>\nI shouldn&#8217;t fight the screen then?<br \/>\nI must embrace, but focus, this time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the final day of poetry week!
