(Like every day this week!) This poem is about&#8230; well, you figure it out. Maybe you&#8217;ll know.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nFailure to Adapt<\/p>\n<p>It always starts as a good idea.<br \/>\nGenius, really,<br \/>\na thought of kings,<br \/>\nbalancing a crown atop<br \/>\ncurvy cloud bubbles,<br \/>\nthe sort of thought that injects<br \/>\nstraight into your face<br \/>\nuntil you smile.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s consequences.<\/p>\n<p>A boulder rolls downward<br \/>\nand you stand to face it.<br \/>\nStalwart<br \/>\nyou stare into impending death<br \/>\nwithout showing fear.<br \/>\nThe bubbles should be enough,<br \/>\nmurmuring happily before you,<br \/>\nand if they don&#8217;t protect you,<br \/>\nnothing wrong with being a bit thinner.<br \/>\nRolling, it picks up speed<br \/>\nsoap impacting its surface.<br \/>\nA crown bounces on stone,<br \/>\ndenting.<br \/>\nCompressed, you become batter,<br \/>\nstuck to ungreased pan,<br \/>\nand now is the time for regret<br \/>\nagain.<\/p>\n<p>Oaths are sworn.<br \/>\nNever again is the mantra<br \/>\nchanted among the cavern walls<br \/>\nand yet<br \/>\nit does<br \/>\nseem like it would work<br \/>\nnext time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s poem day!
